Culture and HIstory

Rusovce served as a military camp since the Ancient Roman settlement of the area (2nd Century BCE), as a part of Limes Romanus - the border of the Roman empire. Remains of the camp are still found here today and the artefacts found can be seen in the museum Antická Gerulata Rusovce. History of our town goes back to the Middle Ages; Rusovce recently celebrated 800 years since first being mentioned officially.

The Rusovce Chateau was completed in the 17th century, but it was first mentioned in 1266. Today, the beautiful and well-preserved complex attracts tourists with its striking towers at its sides, overall built in Tudor and Neo-Gothical style, giving it a resemblance to similar English mansions from the period.

Rusovce is also the home of the famous Slovak folk ensemble SĽUK and two beautiful churches.

Recreation

The Chateau is located in a large park ideal for long strolls or picnics. The trail will lead you to the Rusovce Lake and the Čuňovo Lakes - ideal places to relax in the nature or go for a swim.

The nearby Danube River offers plenty of water sports to try, such as jetskiing or canoeing.

You can also find various options for a meal or a more traditional countryside entertainment in the town.

Sport and recreation

A bicycle and rollerblading path with refreshments is located nearby our B&B, leading through tens of kilometres of nature along the Danube River.

Via this trail you can reach Austria, Hungary or Gabčíkovo, monumental waterworks that often host international tournaments in water sports and offer rafting to visitors as well.

The surroundings of Rusovce is ideal for people with active lifestyle, such as for those enjoying jogging or strolling through the country or along the nearby lakes. The area is never crowded due to its vast size.

We offer bicycle and rollerblade rentals as well.
